Dr Christiaan Yu

Dr Christiaan Yu is a respiratory and sleep specialist. His emphasis is on tailoring the right treatment to each patient’s particular needs.
Graduating from the University of Melbourne, he completed his training at major tertiary hospitals in Victoria. He received his fellowship in respiratory and sleep medicine from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2021. He was a staff specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney where he particularly focused on treating patients with long COVID and Tuberculosis. Since his return to Melbourne, he holds a public appointment at Alfred Health and is an adjunct lecturer at Monash University. In addition, he is the respiratory representative on the specialist panel for the Australian Government - Department of Home Affairs.
Dr Yu has contributed to over thirty journal and abstract publications and has presented his work both nationally and internationally. He was one of only three delegates selected, from Australia and New Zealand, as a young investigator in the global respiratory leadership forum. For the past few years, he has been appointed to various committees in the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and Australasian Sleep Association. Currently, he is the chair of advanced training subcommittee.
His background and expertise allow him to manage a broad scope of pulmonary conditions including airways disease, advanced lung disease, lung cancer, long COVID as well as sleep disorders - sleep apnea, narcolepsy and insomnia. He is able to perform flexible bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS).
He welcomes all referrals and is dedicated to maintaining the highest level of confidence among his patients. He has admitting rights to both Knox and Ringwood Private Hospital, as well as various Epworth locations.
